Culinary Fight Club put down another great fight with the Sips and Bits edition!
What can a professional Chef and mixologist whip up with Woodford Reserve Bourbon??
Talk about scrumptious foodie samplings with top notch cocktails. On December 21st I was invited to attend the conclusion of the Culinary Fight Club’s 2017 Competitions!
Culinary Fight Club hosts live cooking competitions. No two events are the same. The teams of cooks race for 45 seconds to choose 15 ingredients from the pantry of food provided by Reinhart Foodservice.
Once the ingredients are collected, each team has 60 minutes to construct a dish that depicts their take on this month’s theme sip and bite. Once the timer hit 60 minutes, the audience members and judges sample and vote on a winning dish.
The most amazing part about Culinary Fight Club is they partnered with the non-profit Fight2Feed, which normally 20% of proceeds are donated but in December 100% of ticket sales are donated. This is an organization that partners with top restaurants and food trucks to provide service and support or hungry friends.
AND THE WINNER IS …….
Congratulations to Chef Stefano Roman of PR Italian Bistro for winning both the tasters’s choice and judges vote with his pork loin and Cinnamon Apple Cocktail.
The Winning Moment!

Our Tastes of the Mediterranean
When a friend of mine invited me to the #MeetTheMedi VR dining experience with her, I was like totally YES! I love Olive Garden. I mean I LOVE their bread sticks! And I had no idea Olive Garden had a section of the menu featuring entrees that have 600 calories or less.
We arrived at the station gathered our tickets and sipped champagne before heading to the platform for our train to the Mediterranean as we waited we mingled with the fellow passengers while sipping our Green Apple Moscato Sangria. The train conductor shouted out the train had arrived. We boarded the train to begin our trip to #MeetTheMedi We dined in a train car with video screens and sounds mimicking a train trip across the Italian country side.
WELL OF COURSE WE HAD SALAD
CHICKEN MARGHERITA – Grilled chicken breasts topped with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, basil pesto and a lemon garlic sauce. Served with parmesan crusted zucchini.
SHRIMP SCAMPI – Shrimp sautéed in a garlic sauce, tossed with asparagus, tomatoes and angel hair pasta.
CHICKEN PICCATA – Grilled chicken topped with a lemon garlic butter sauce, sun-dried tomatoes and capers. Served with parmesan crusted zucchini.
LINGUINE DI MARE – Shrimp and mussels sauteed with homemade pomodoro sauce and whole grain linguine.
AND DESSERT …….
I simply can’t believe ALL of these dishes are under 600 calories. I’ll be back again and again. Thanks SO much to Olive Garden for the preview. Be sure to check them out on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!

Our favorite reflective Chicago landmark… the “Cloud Gate” sculpture was dedicated on May 15, 2006.
When I first started Once Upon a Time, I heard that everyone loved Captain Hook. I laughed out loud at them, thinking how crazy they were. I mean, Captain Hook? The same evil pirate with a perm and unruly beard with a rum problem? He’s a handsome hero? No freaking way! Then I went on […]

Hello I’m Matthew. I’m a recent college graduate living in Chicago. I attended Roosevelt University in the heart of the Chicago Loop. When I moved to Chicago four years ago, I would never realized what an impact it would have on my life. I have had the opportunity to live and learn in the heart of Chicago. Being just a few blocks away from public transportation the city was at my finger tips. One hobby that I am passionate about has been photography, whether I’m puling out me digitalSLR or just my iphone. I try to share just a little of my WORLD with my followers. My friends would also tell you that I love a good #selfie. Besides Photography I am an avid Social Media User, a Disney Geek, an ΑΦΩ Brother, a LGBT Activist, and Foodie.
Each morning I remind myself to live each day to the fullest and not to pass up any opportunities that may come my way. To keep myself open to any new experiences and always be willing to try any thing at least once Because you never know what you may like.
